Hi everyone! Thank you for your patience. This was a busy week! I was doing a lot of Thanksgiving prep. We were hosting, and by hosting I mean I hosted T and the boys. I definitely made too much and we’ve been eating Thanksgiving food for every meal for the last few days. Don’t get me wrong, I love Thanksgiving food. Cooking isn’t my favorite anymore. I used to love cooking, and I don’t know when I stopped. But for some reason, I love cooking for Thanksgiving. Maybe it’s the comfort food aspect or because it’s for a special occasion. I’m not sure. But I really do love it. Even though T was saying, “Why are you stressed? It’s just for us.” Yes, thank you, T, I’m no longer stressed. I really didn’t feel that stressed and I’m sure the bottle of sparkling wine helped. I’m not sure why I hadn’t done that before, it really made it more enjoyable. All jokes aside, I enjoyed it all and I tried some new recipes. I think for next year, I’ll do some tweaking and add in more vegetables to off-set all the carbs.
This week, we also got O and H a bunk bed. H will stay in his crib for some more time, but we had previously gotten a singular house-frame bed for O. It was really cute and such a good idea, but we did not account for O being a climber.
The second my dad saw that bed, he said, “Oh, that was not a good idea. That kid is going to climb all over it.”
But my mom and I both disagreed.
Well, we were wrong.
My son is in fact a climber and has attempted some great feats on the house-frame bed. He is very high-energy; which is great, but it is definitely a lot.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, how is a bunk bed any better? Well, at least with the bunk bed, when he launches himself, at least he’ll (hopefully) land on some cushions. And, we don’t have to buy a separate bed for his brother. We’ll see how bad of an idea this was.
It’s a lot having two high-energy kids. H is only 11 months, but this kid is trying to follow everything his high-energy brother is doing. It’s very sweet.
To help with O’s behaviour given his high-energy tendencies, we’ve been having O run with us. He has run several times in the last week and half he’s had off from school, and during this time has done almost a two mile run. And this kid, believe it or not, does not stop talking the entire time. I cannot listen to anything as we run, not just for safety, but because he has so much to say. The entire time is either asking questions or telling me about things he sees or things he wants to pretend. Let me tell you, my endurance training has already improved significantly since I’m basically doing zone 2 runs AND talking at the same time.
Needless to say, all of this has contributed to it being a busy week. I hope you all had a great start to your holidays. I hope you decorated without any guilt or shame if that’s what you choose. I wish you all a great holiday season as we enter a very busy time.
